Description
Testing a system in a physical environment brings along specific requirements on the optimal configuration of the testing facility.
With this service, we offer our technical expertise for the preparation of the testing environment. Relevant characteristics for this preparation can be defined together with customers ahead of time through the provisioning of Service S00106, while the activities to be performed in the testing environment can be designed through the provisioning of Service S00107.
The output of Service S00110 is the environment ready for testing. This environment preparation phase includes planting the required plant species, layout, intra-row distance, reproducing the required soil and terrain conditions, as well as setting up the technical infrastructure supporting the tests (e.g., network infrastructure, environmental sensors, …).
Example service: The testing environment for a weeding robot is set up based on environment characteristics designed via service S00106. Crops are planted along 3 10-metres-long rows, also considering the exposition to sunlight. Matricaria Chamomilla weeds are also planted following 3 controlled levels of density along the rows. Manual weeding is performed to remove all weed types different from Matricaria. A local base station with associated wireless network (WLAN) is installed and configured in order to provide an RTK GPS correction signal to the machines under test. Sunlight and ground humidity sensors are installed at the head of each row, and their output made available via the WLAN.
